The School of Education at Andrews University is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). This accreditation covers all Elementary Education and Secondary Education programs as well as graduate programs in Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Leadership, School Counseling, and School Psychology. However, the accreditation does not include individual education courses that the institution offers to P-12 educators for professional development, relicensure, or other purposes.
After rigorous preparations, the School of Education passed its November 2011 NCATE Board of Examiners visit with flying colors. May 2012 brought the official letter awarding the School of Education with continuing accreditation through November 2018 (see news article).
NCATE has now been replace by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) as the accreditor for education programs. The School of Education is now involved in preparing for a CAEP site visit in the fall of 2018.
