Dr. Raymond Ostrander brings to his classrooms a thorough understanding of instructional needs at the K-12 levels having taught, among other disciplines, English Language Arts in elementary and secondary schools for 17 years, including Glenview Junior (Glendate, AZ), Nevada Elementary (MO), Sunnydale Academy (Centralia, MO), North Puget Junior Academy (Bulington, WA), and College View Academy (Lincoln, NE). During these years he taught in both multi-age/multi-grade classrooms and self-contained classrooms. He also taught English classes at Union college in Lincoln, NE. Currently he holds the rank of Professor of Teaching, Learning, and Curriculum at Andrews University. His teaching responsibilities include both undergraduate and graduate courses. He also holds the title of Director of Teacher Preparation Programs. He has been a full-time faculty at Andrews University since 1992.
Dr. Ostrander has so many hobbies and interests it would take a lot of space list them all. The ones he pursues the most are travel to "exotic" locales, SCUBA diving, cooking fine food, eating fine food, attending symphony orchestras, playing trumpet, reading, and fly fishing for sockeye salmon.
