Below, you will find a variety of ways we can help share your upcoming events or news stories with both on- and off-campus entities. If you have announcements to share with the campus community, here are several venues we provide.
The Andrews Agenda is now the main source for campus information. Newly reformatted, it is no longer confined to the limitations of a once-a-week, single-page, printed newsletter. The Andrews Agenda is now updated daily. It is replacing broadcast emails as a routine form of communication and is formatted to include information previously reserved solely for broadcast emails.
Each Thursday, all campus email users will receive an email highlighting news items in the Andrews Agenda. It is critical that you thoroughly read the email and follow the appropriate links for additional information to keep up-to-date on campus announcements. Sections include:

The AU Events Calendar
Post your own events! Visit https://www.andrews.edu/events/submission and use your Andrews login and password. Click on “Add New Entry” to get to an event entry form. Any and all Andrews University related/sponsored events are welcome. For additional instructions, please email email@example.com with “Event Calendar Instructions” in the subject line.
Upcoming events will be promoted under “Upcoming Events” in the twice-weekly Andrews Agenda email. If you would like to promote an event more than 3-4 days in advance, please submit an announcement to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Broadcast emails are reserved for campus-wide emergencies, campus-wide scheduling changes and death announcements of current Andrews University faculty, staff and students only. No graphics or photos may be sent via broadcast email.
Voicemail announcements are for administrative and emergency purposes only, such as from the offices of the president, provost, vice presidents and treasurer.
The Division of Integrated Marketing & Communication submits press releases to both local and church media on a regular basis. Below are explanations of our various external communication outlets and ways you can submit news tips or stories. In general, a press release is 300–500 words in length and is written by Gillian Sanner, media communications manager or a student writer. However, if you would prefer to write your own release, you may do so and submit it to IMC for distribution. However, please note that IMC reserves the right to edit press releases as they see fit before releasing to the media.
Local & Church Media
Andrews University submits news stories and announcements of upcoming events to the local media on a regular basis. This includes local newspapers, television and radio stations. The Journal Era, Herald Palladium and South Bend Tribune are the newspapers that most frequently print articles we submit. We also regularly submit and have items published by church-related media, including the Review and Adventist News Network. Lake Union Herald
Andrews University has a monthly news page in the Lake Union Herald magazine, which usually features two brief news stories or profiles. Since the Herald's deadline is two months in advance of publication, the stories should be relatively "timeless." This is not the best spot to publicize an upcoming event, but may be the best location to feature a new faculty member or student-related news item.
FOCUS magazine is Andrews University's magazine. It is published on a quarterly basis. All FOCUS submissions, including feature story ideas, should be emailed to the editor, Pat Spangler, at firstname.lastname@example.org. The Campus Update section is the place where departmental news is shared with alumni. Often, news items that were featured in the Lake Union Herald or the web will also be placed in the Campus Update or Faculty/Staff sections of FOCUS. Online archives of FOCUS magazines can be found at www.andrews.edu/focus.
The Andrews website is a great place to publicize an upcoming event or news story. All non-upcoming event-related news items may be submitted to appear on the web's news section. Only the three most recent news stories or events will appear on the home page of the website. All events or news tips may be submitted to email@example.com.
