Connecting to AU-Secure

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
If you are still unable to connect to au-secure after following these guides, reset your password by visiting  the Andrews Password Reset page, then try connecting to au-secure again.

Windows 10 (laptops or tablets)    

  1. From the Notification tray (bottom-right corner of the screen), select the wireless network icon
  2. Select au-secure
  3. When prompted, enter your Andrews username (lowercase without "@andrews.edu") and password, then select OK
  4. If a message appears that the server's identity can't be identified, select Connect
  5. The system will automatically connect to au-secure and indicate this with "Connected"

Windows 8.1 (laptops or tablets)    

  1. From the Notification tray (bottom-right corner of the screen), select the wireless network icon
  2. Select au-secure
  3. Select Connect automatically, then select Connect
  4. Enter your Andrews username (lowercase without "@andrews.edu") and password, then select OK
  5. If prompted, select Connect
  6. The system will automatically connect to au-secure and indicate this with "Connected"

Windows 8 (laptops or tablets)    

NOTE:  If you are connected to au-guest, remember to "forget" this network to avoid connecting to it again. To do this, right click (or select and hold) on the au-guest network and select Forget this network.

  1. From the Start Screen, open the Charms Bar by placing your mouse (or finger) at the lower righthand corner of your screen
  2. Select the Search icon
  3. Select the Settings icon and then type "network" into the search box. Windows 8 will display all network-related settings to the left of the Charms Bar
  4. Use your mouse or finger to scroll through the search results, then select Network and Sharing Center
  5. Select Set up a new connection or network
  6. Select Manually connect to a wireless network, then click Next
  7. Enter the following information, then Next
    • Network nameau-secure
    • Security type: WPA2-Enterprise
    • Encryption typeAES
  8. Select Change connection settings
  9. Select Security tab
  10. Select Settings
  11. Uncheck “Validate server certificate”
  12. Ensure Select Authentication Method is “Secured password (EAP-MSCHAP v2)”, then select Configure
  13. Uncheck “Automatically use my Windows logon name and password (and domain if any)”
  14. Select OK
  15. Select OK
  16. Select OK
  17. Select Close
  18. Initiate the connection to the au-secure wireless network:
    • Return to the Charms Bar as you did before by placing your mouse (or finger) at the bottom right corner of your screen
    • Select Settings on the Charms bar, then click on the Wireless network icon
  19. Select au-secure wireless network
    • Ensure Connect automatically is checked
    • Select Connect
  20. When prompted, enter your Andrews username (lowercase without "@andrews.edu") and password
  21. Repeat if prompted again

Windows 7    

  1. From the Notification tray (bottom-right corner of the screen), select Wireless icon
  2. Select Open Network and Sharing Center
  3. Select Set Up a Connection or Network
  4. Select Manually connect to a wireless network
  5. Enter the following information, then Next
    • Network name:  au-secure
    • Security type: WPA2-Enterprise
    • Encryption type:  AES
  6. Select Change connection settings
  7. Select Security tab
  8. Select Settings
  9. Uncheck “Validate server certificate”
  10. Ensure Select Authentication Method is “Secured password (EAP-MSCHAP v2)”, then select Configure
  11. Uncheck “Automatically use my Windows logon name and password (and domain if any)”
  12. Select OK
  13. Select OK
  14. Select OK
  15. Select Close
  16. When prompted, enter your Andrews username (lowercase without "@andrews.edu") and password
  17. Repeat if prompted again

Mac OS X 10.7 & higher    

  1. If you are connected to au-guest, you must remove it from your list of wireless networks:
    • On the Finder Bar, select the Airport (wireless) icon  >  Open Network Preferences...
    • If necessary, select the Lock to authenticate and make changes
    • Select Advanced...
    • Select au-guest
    • Select -
    • Select OK
  2. In the Network Name drop-down menu, select au-secure
  3. When prompted, enter your Andrews username (lowercase without "@andrews.edu") and password
  4. If a security prompt appears, select Always Allow
  5. If a certificate page appears, select Accept
  6. The device will connect to the au-secure wireless newtork.

iOS (iPhone/iPad/iTouch)    

  1. Go to Settings  >  WiFi
  2. If you are connected to au-guest, select it then select Forget This Network.
    Select Forget again to confirm.
  3. Select au-secure.
  4. When prompted, enter your Andrews username (lowercase without "@andrews.edu") and password
  5. If you receive an error that states, "Unable to join the network 'au-secure'", select Dismiss and select Join once more.
  6. On the Certificate Page, select Accept.
  7. The device will connect to the au-secure wireless network.

Android (smartphones or tablets)     

NOTE: Due to variations in Android devices, not every Android-based device will work in the same way and the following guide may not be exactly as described on your device.

  1. Go to Settings   >  Wi-Fi
  2. Make sure the that "Wi-Fi" is checked or ON
  3. Under Wi-Fi networks you will see a list of available networks. Select au-secure.
  4. Configure the following options:
    • EAP Method: PEAP
    • Phase 2 authentication: MSCHAPV2
    • Identity: Enter your Andrews username (lowercase without "@andrews.edu")
    • Password: Enter your Andrews password (If your cursor is stuck at 'Identity' click "next" on your keypad twice to get to Password)
  5. Select Connect

Chrome OS (Chromebooks & Chromeboxes)    

  1. Select the wireless icon on taskbar (lower-right corner of the screen)
  2. Select No Network
    • If not connected, it will have a wireless network symbol with an "x" in it and display "No network"
  3. Select au-secure from the list of available networks.  A configuration window will appear.
  4. Enter the following information:
    • Encryption Settings: LEAP
    • Username:  Your Andrews username (without @andrews.edu)
    • Password: Your Andrews password

Windows Phone     

  1. From the Home Screen swipe to the left and select Settings from the list of applications
  2. Select Wi-Fi. Make sure that wireless is on by sliding the bar to the right underneath Wi-Fi Networking
  3. Select au-secure
  4. Enter your Andrews username (lowercase without "@andrews.edu") and password
  5. Select Done
  6. When prompted to "Continue connecting", Select Yes. This allows your phone to connect to campus wireless automatically from now on.

Blackberry 10    

  1. Go to Settings  >  Network Connections  >  Wi-Fi
  2. If Wifi is off, turn it on
  3. From the list of wireless networks, select au-secure
  4. When prompted, enter your Andrews username (lowercase without "@andrews.edu") and password
  5. Select Connect
  6. Verify that au-secure network says "Connected"
