Use ScholarOne Manuscripts

This journal uses ScholarOne Manuscripts (previously Manuscript Central) to peer review manuscript submissions. Please read the guide for ScholarOne authors before making a submission. Complete guidelines for preparing and submitting your manuscript to this journal are provided below. Manuscripts are subject to double blind peer review.

Please note that Journal of Research on Christian Education uses CrossCheck™ software to screen papers for unoriginal material. By submitting your paper to Journal of Research on Christian Education you are agreeing to any necessary originality checks your paper may have to undergo during the peer review and production processes. 

Guidelines for Submitting Manuscripts

The Journal of Research on Christian Education (JRCE), published 3 times per year, is a refereed publication of the School of Education at Andrews University. The JRCE welcomes the submission of research manuscripts, literature reviews, scholarly essays, book reviews, and reaction papers having to do with research on all aspects of Christian education.

The opinions expressed in published manuscripts are those of the individual authors and do not necessarily represent the views of the editors or publishers of the JRCE. Note: Do not submit material under consideration by another journal.

Submission of Manuscripts 

Journal of Research on Christian Education receives all manuscript submissions electronically via its ScholarOne Manuscripts site located at http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/JRCE. ScholarOne Manuscripts allows for rapid submission of original and revised manuscripts, and facilitates the review process and internal communication between authors, editors, and reviewers via a web-based platform. Each manuscript must be accompanied by a statement that it has not been published elsewhere and that it has not been submitted simultaneously for publication elsewhere. Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyrighted material from other sources and are required to sign an agreement for the transfer of copyright to the publisher. As an author, you are required to secure permission if you want to reproduce any figure, table, or extract from the text of another source. This applies to direct reproduction as well as ‘‘derivative reproduction’’ (where you have created a new figure or table which derives substantially from a copyrighted source). All accepted manuscripts, artwork, and photographs become the property of the publisher.

All parts of the manuscript should be word processed, double-spaced, with margins of at least one inch on all sides. Number manuscript pages consecutively throughout the paper. Authors should also use a shortened version of the title as the running head, not exceeding 50 character spaces. Each article should be summarized in an abstract of not more than 100 words. Avoid abbreviations, diagrams, and reference to the text in the abstract.

References

Cite in the text by author and date (Smith, 1983). Prepare reference list in accordance with the APA Publication Manual, 7th ed., paying particular attention to the use of the active voice and the organization of references.

Illustrations

Illustrations submitted (line drawings, halftones, photos, photomicrographs, etc.) should be clean originals or digital files. Digital files are recommended for highest quality reproduction and should follow these guidelines: 300 dpi or higher; Sized to fit on journal page; EPS, TIFF, or PSD format only; Submitted as separate files, not embedded in text files.

Color Reproduction

Color art will be reproduced in color in the online publication at no additional cost to the author. Color illustrations will also be considered for print publication; however, the author will be required to bear the full cost involved in color art reproduction. Please note that color reprints can only be ordered if print reproduction costs are paid. Print Rates: $900 for the first page of color; $450 per page for the next three pages of color. A custom quote will be provided for articles with more than four pages of color. Art not supplied at a minimum of 300 dpi will not be considered for print.

Tables and Figures

Tables and figures (illustrations) should not be embedded in the text, but should be included as separate sheets or files. A short descriptive title should appear above each table with a clear legend and any footnotes suitably identified below. All units must be included. Figures should be completely labeled, taking into account necessary size reduction. Captions should be typed, double-spaced, on a separate sheet. All original figures should be clearly marked in pencil on the reverse side with the number, author’s name, and top edge indicated.

Proofs and Reprints

Page proofs are sent to the designated author using Taylor & Francis’ Central Article Tracking System (CATS). Proofs must be carefully checked and returned within 48 hours of receipt. Authors for whom we receive a valid email address will be provided an opportunity to purchase reprints of individual articles, or copies of the complete print issue. These authors will also be given complimentary access to their final article on Taylor & Francis Online.
