Andrews University waives test scores for Fall 2020

Andrews University is dedicated to our students. Due to the safety measures pertaining to the Covid-19 pandemic, ACT, SAT and TOEFL exams have been cancelled around the globe, leaving many high school seniors feeling uncertain about university admission. As a demonstration of our commitment to you, we are offering a solution to all freshman applicants for Fall 2020 who haven’t been admitted yet and who haven’t yet taken the ACT, SAT or TOEFL (international students) exams.

We are admitting students with no ACT or SAT test scores for Fall 2020. Just provide a 7-semester high school transcript, and we will review it for admissions.  We are also accepting Duolingo English Test as an alternative for TOEFL for international students applying for Fall 2020.

Admissions review includes the following minimum requirements:

  • Cumulative high school GPA of 3.00 or higher
  • Have taken, or in the process of completing, 4 years of English and 3 years each of History/Social Studies, Lab Science, and Math (Algebra I and higher)
  • Have C’s or higher in all of the above courses that you have completed so far
  • Language proficiency scores from TOEFL or Duolingo (if less than 4 years in English medium high school)

Students admitted with no test scores will:

  • be awarded an $8,000 or $10,000 annual Andrews Partnership Scholarship (APS) based on cumulative high school GPA, which may be increased depending on results if test available (see APS calculator)
  • be assigned academic advising based on your cumulative high school GPA

Importance notice: If you have taken the ACT or SAT exams, you are not eligible for this type of admission. Please send us your latest high school transcript and exam scores for admissions.

English Proficiency test for international students:

  • We are accepting the Duolingo English Test as an alternative to the TOEFL for Fall 2020 applications.
  • This is an online test that students can take from their homes; scores are then certified and sent to Andrews by the Duolingo company.
  • Students who are accepted provisionally via the Duolingo English Test will still be required to take the TOEFL ITP in Center for Intensive English Program (CIEP) upon arrival on campus.

For scores, please use the following chart:

CIEP-only Pathway 1* Pathway 2* Regular admission
Below 90 90-95 100-105 110 or higher

* For more information about The Language Pathway Program, please email ceip@andrews.edu

While this does not guarantee admissions to all applicants, we feel that you certainly deserve consideration.  We hope that this solution will give you time to adjust your focus and prepare for Andrews in the Fall. If you have any questions, please contact us at undergrad@andrews.edu.
