Function of Spectrophotometer Parts
Exit slit:
Determines the “band pass” of the instrument
The range of wavelengths that pass through the exit slit and strike the reaction cuvet
The larger the exit slit the wider the band pass
Reaction cuvet:
Holds the reactants and are of various types:
Single cuvets
Holds only one sample and is removed following use.
Flow through cuvets
A sample is aspirated into cuvet, measured, and then another sample is aspirated, washing the first one out of cuvet.
