Normal range of WBC count in healthy adults:

WBC = 4.0 – 11.0 x 109/L

Express the value 4,500/mm3 as number/L :

4,500 x 106/L or 4.5 x 109/L

Normal range of WBC count in healthy newborns:

WBC = 10.0 – 30.0 x 109/L
