Primary
function:
Transport
oxygen from lungs to tissue and transport carbon dioxide from tissues to lungs
Secondary
function:
Acts as a
buffer to maintain pH in normal range (7.36 – 7.41)
Each heme group
can carry 1 mole of oxygen so each hemoglobin molecule can carry 4 moles of oxygen
