Begins when coagulation factors
are activated and involve the following steps :
Coagulation factors interact to form
a fibrin mesh (clot)
Circulating inhibitors keep clot
from forming downstream from damaged area
Fibrinolytic system is activated and
begins slowly dissolving the clot
Damaged endothelial cells replaced
and clot is dissolved
