Coagulation Time - 1
Specimen requirements:
Fresh whole blood collected by
syringe without anticoagulant
Principle:
A timer is started as soon as blood
enters syringe
1 mL placed in tube marked #3
1 mL placed in tube marked #2
1 mL placed in tube marked #1
Tubes are kept at 37oC
and after 5 minutes, beginning with tube #1, it is tilted every 30 seconds until it clots
Tube #2 is tilted every 30 seconds
until it clots
Tube #3 is tilted every 30 seconds
until it clots and when it does the timer is stopped
