Clinical application:
Used to monitor coumadin (oral
anticoagulant) therapy
Therapeutic range:
2 – 2.5 times normal control (20 –
30 seconds)
INR = 2.0 – 2.5 on coumadin or up to
4.0 if higher dose needed
Used to screen for coagulopathies
