Collecting coagulation specimen using
vacutainer:
Use light blue stoppered tubes
Some labs may required this to be
drawn as 2nd or 3rd tube
A clean venipuncture should be made
to avoid tissue contamination of specimen
The tourniquet should be released as
soon as blood begins entering tube.
Tube must be filled within + or –
10% to maintain 9:1 blood to anticoagulant ratio.
