Why are lipemic or hemolyzed specimens unsuitable for coagulation studies:
Hemolyzed specimens are indicative of a poor venipuncture and may be contaminated with tissue
Lipemic specimens may interfere with the instruments ability to detect the clot
Are small clots in the specimens acceptable:
Regardless of how small the clots are, the is unacceptable for use in coagulation studies
