Factor Identification by Substitution - 3
Case study:
A patient presented in ER complaining of bleeding in mouth and having prolonged nose bleeds. The following tests were performed:
PT = 13 sec. (10-15 sec)
aPTT = 60 sec. (25-38 sec)
BT = 5 min. (<10 min.)
Substitution tests performed using aPTT:
Patient plasma + normal plasma = 40 sec.
Patient plasma + absorbed plasma = 39 sec.
Patient plasma + aged serum = 70 sec.
