Fresh whole blood collected in
sodium citrate at a 9:1 ratio of blood to anticoagulant
1% acetic acid is added to diluted
plasma causing precipitation to occur.
Supernatant removed and precipitate
contains euglobulins
which are:
Kept on ice and assayed ASAP
Thrombin is added to precipitate
causing clot formation.
Clot is incubated and timed until
clot dissolves. If <1 hour it indicates increased fibrinolysis.
