A series of dilutions in
which dilutions vary from tube to tube.
Example:a
series of 6 test tubes are set up, each containing 2 ml of
saline. Into the first tube 1 ml of serum is
added. After mixing, 0.5 ml of tube 1 is transferred
into tube 2. This is repeated for tubes 3,4,
and 5. Only 0.2 ml of tube 5 is transferred
to tube 6

Dilution
= 2 + 1 = 1:3 or 1/3
