Rh Control
•Type of control:
•Required when anti-D antisera has macromolecules in a high-protein diluent to enhance agglutination.
•It is a negative (no reaction) control
•Contains everything that is in anti-D antisera except anti-D
•When is it required to be performed:
•What is contained in Rh control:
•What can cause agglutination of the Rh control:
•1. Patient’s RBCs coated with autoantibodies which can be detected by performing DAT and it being positive
•2. Plasma of patient contains high protein concentration which causes rouleaux. Can be detected by using saline replacement technique.
