ABO Discrepancy Due to anti-A1
•When is antiA1 formed:
•When there is a discrepancy between forward and reverse typing for ABO
•How will it be discovered:
•In about 1% - 8% of group A2 phenoptypes who have been exposed to A1 red cells

•1. Test patient red cells using anti-A1 lectin
•How will it be resolved:
•If it is negative it indicates subgroup of A
•2. Test patient serum using 3 known A1 and A2 cells
•Must be positive for A1 and negative for A2
