How will it be discovered:
In about 1% - 8% of group A2 phenoptypes who
have been exposed to A1 red cells

1. Test patient red cells using anti-A1 lectin
How will it be resolved:
If it is
negative it indicates subgroup of A
2. Test patient serum using 3 known A1 and A2 cells
Must be
positive for A1 and
negative for A2
