Become sensitized by having
an Rh positive baby and either during
pregnancy or at time of delivery some of the baby’s Rh positive red cells get into mother’s circulation.
In Rh negative women
Which babies will be affected:
Only Rh positive babies
conceived following sensitization
If the woman is Rh negative,
Rh immune globulin (RhIg) may be
administered during pregnancy or if after delivery the baby is tested to be Rh positive then RhIg is given within 72
hours after delivery.
