Stem Cell Theory:
*   Mature blood cells arise from two types of stem cells:
o  Undifferentiated:
o  Progenitor cells:
Ø also called “pluripotential stem cells”
Ø two types are:
Ø capable of self-renewal and differentiation into progenitor cells
v  CFU-L = lymphoid stem cell
v  Myeloid stem cell
Ø give rise to lineage specific precursor cells
