Lymphocyte Function
Main function of lymphocytes:
Regulation of immune function
1. Antigen fragments carried to lymph nodes
3. Follicle dendritic cells in cortex process antigen
2. Macrophages in medullary area process antigen
4. IL-1 from macrophage:
Activates CD8+ cells to destroy cells
Process of lymphocyte in immune response:
Activates B-cells to produce antibodies
5. Ag + MHC-I required for CD8+ activation
6. Ag + MHC-II required for CD4+ activation
7. B-cells don’t need CD4+ stimulation if antigen is a polysaccharide
