If the WBC count is <3.0 x 109/L:
If the WBC count is >30.0 x 109/L :
Any nucleated RBC will be counted as:
A smaller dilution is needed
Or use average of 9 “W” sections
A larger dilution is needed

A corrected WBC count must be done when:
5 or more nRBCs per 100 WBC’s seen during the differential exam
A corrected WBC count is calculated using:
WBCcorrected = patient’s WBC count    x 100
                         100 + #nRBC’s per 100 WBCs
