ESR - 2
Wintrobe method:
A short, closed at one end tube is filled with whole-undiluted blood and allowed to sit for one hour.
This method is not used by very many labs.
Westergren method :
2 ml of whole blood mixed with 0.5 ml (4:1 ratio)  0.85% NaCl or 3.8% sodium citrate.
Filled Westergren tube placed so it is within 2% of vertical
After one hour the distance red cells settled is measured in mm and reported as #mm/hour
