Unit Objectives - 2
Unit objectives:
5. Identify and troubleshoot problems
that
cause poorly stained blood smears.
6. Properly examine a peripheral
blood smear,
including selection of “correct” area, sequence of examination, and observations to
be made
at each magnification.
7. Given the number of cells observed per field, apply formulas to
estimate WBC
and platelet counts.
8. Explain the effect that platelet satellitosis and clumping may
have on
automated cell counts.
