Autohemolysis Test
Principle:
When patient’s defibrinated red cells are incubated in their own serum at 37oC for 48 hours only minimal hemolysis should occur.
Clinical application:
 In patients with H. spherocytosis there is increased hemolysis that is corrected in tube with additional glucose added.
 in patients with PK deficiency there is increased hemolysis that is not corrected in tube with additional glucose added.
