Clinical findings & G6PD
When symptoms become evident:
Most
patients are asymptomatic
Only
symptoms may be acute hemolytic episodes following oxidative
stress due to factors listed earlier
Type and severity of anemia:
Intravascular
and extravascular type of moderate to severe anemia
Normocytic
normochromic type of anemia seen
The
severity of anemia and red cell morphologies seen is
dependant on:
Level
of G6PD activity present
Level
of oxidative process occurring
