Definition:
Hemolytic-Uremic
Syndrome. An acquired disorder that resembles TTP and
presents with a triad of symptoms.
HUS triad of features:
1. RBC fragmentation
2. thrombocytopenia
3. Progressive renal failure
Infectious organisms & HUS:
Escherichia
coli
Shigella
dysenteriae
Streptococcus
pneumoniae
Campylobacter
jejunii
Produce
cytotoxins
