Direct-Immunocytochemical Procedure
Principle:
Conjugated-antibody reacts with antigen on cell or tissue.
If it is an enzyme-conjugated antibody then a chromogen is added so reaction between conjugated-antibody and antigen can be visualized.
If it is a fluorochrome-conjugated antibody then reaction can be measured or visualized by fluorescence produced.
Pros:
Easy to perform
Cons:
Least sensitive and difficult to interpret results
