Labeled-Immunocytochemical Procedure (
Avidin-Biotin)
Principle:
Avidin
– a glycoprotein found in egg white.
Biotin
– vitamin H.
These
two have a stron attraction to each other so an
antibody conjugated to biotin reacts with antigen
and then enzyme tagged avidin binds with biotin-ab-ag complex
and appropriate chromogen added.
