Essential Thrombocytosis (ET)-1
Pathophysiology:
Increased megakaryopoiesis with thrombocytosis >600 x 109/L or commonly >1000 x 109/L
Seen more commonly in older age group
Incidence:
Platelet count >600 x 109/L
Diagnosis:
Hemoglobin level <13 g/dL
Negative for Philadelphia chromosome
Non-fibrous (<1/3) bone marrow
No splenomegaly
No leukoerythroblastosis
No reactive thrombocytosis
