MDS seen in patients who have been previously treated with chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy
Pathophysiology:
Incidence:
Onset varies depending on therapy but median time is:
2.5 – 5 years post-therapy initiation
Features of t-MDS:
More aggressive
May quickly evolve into AML
Very severe dysplastic changes in pb and bm
Ringed sideroblasts
Hypocellularity
Myelofibrosis
Abnormalities in chromosome 5 and/or 7
