Definition:
Substances produced naturally in the body that can be used to treat cancer.
Colony-stimulating-factors (CSF):
Examples:
G-CSF
GM-CSF
Stimulate increased production of WBCs
Interferon-a:
Can induce remission in Hairy Cell Leukemia (HCL), B-cell leukemia/lymphoma, and CML
Interleukin-2:
Activates T-cytotoxic cells and is good at treating thymoma and renal cell carcinoma
Interleukin-11:
Stimulates megakaryocyte production
