The g-carboxyglutamic acid is necessary
for attachment of
Ca++ which in turn allows the factor to bind with phospholipids
Mode of action of vitamin K:
In vitamin K deficiencies or coumadin therapy the factors synthesized lack g-carboxyglutamic acid and can’t participate in coagulation
