Clinical Features of Hemophilia A
Deep muscle – may cause nerve damage
Anatomic sites of hemorrhages:
Joints – may swell and be painful
Hematomas – swelling containing blood
Easy bruising
Wounds that ooze
CNS bleeding results in:
Memory loss
paralysis
Prolonged PT, aPTT, with <30% factor VIII
stroke
Seizures and coma
Bleeding at time of birth
0-2 u/dL = severe bleeding at birth
2-6 u/dL = onset of bleeding at 2 years
6-30 u/dL = bleeding with severe trauma
