Used to decrease risk of thrombosis-induced strokes in patients with CVD that can’t tolerate aspirin
Ticlopidine:
Now used for a variety of disorders
Inhibits ADP from binding with receptors so platelet aggregation to ADP and collagen reduced
Receptor for fibrinogen attachment to platelet
Inhibits aggregation
GPIIb/IIIa receptor inhibitors:
Two types of drugs:
Fab fragments that bind to receptor
Synthesized segment of fibrinogen that binds to receptor
