For most draws:
20 or 21 gauge needles
For high
volume draws (>25 ml):
19 gauge needles
For transfer
from syringe to tube:
no needles
19 gauge needles – let blood run
down side of tube
Note: the smaller the
number (gauge) the larger the bore of the needle
