Plt Aggregometry with Whole-blood
Procedure:
Saline-diluted whole-blood added to cuvette
Type of tracing produced:
Agonist is added to solution
Platelets form aggregates on electrodes
Parallel electrodes placed in solution – 370C
The tracing resembles that of PRP method
Current versus time is plotted
Don’t have to make PRP suspension
Change in current flow is directly proportional to amount of aggregates formed
A small current is applied between electrodes
Advantage over PRP procedure:
