Procedure:
May be done on whole-blood or PRP
Luciferin (firefly) is then added
This should give full
chemiluminescence
ATP standard + specimen added to one
cuvette
The amount of chemiluminescence
produced will be directly proportional to the amount of ATP released by platelets dense granules (secretion)
The amount of aggregation produced is also measured in same way as previous aggregometry methods
A second specimen aliquot is tested
using only luciferin + agonist
Agonist used:
Thrombin 1st one used then weaker ones used
