My Metaphor for the Effective Teacher
Due September 7, 2004
Using one of the “compressed conflicts” developed during the synectics lesson OR one of your own, develop a metaphor to describe the effective teacher. Start your descriptive piece with a topic sentence (for example, “The effective teacher is a contained tornado”). Then go on to show how this metaphor describes the effective teacher.
Remember to use what you have learned about writing. Sentences express complete thoughts. All sentences in a single paragraph are focused on the same major idea. All sentences and paragraphs in the paper relate to the topic.
Be sure to word process your final paper. Length – somewhere between one-half and one whole page.

□ Synthesizes the major concepts involved (the gaps are gone)
