Plain and simple. That's me. Not much to
look at. Just your basic, standard model. No options, quite a
few miles on me, but I generally start well--when I get enough sleep--and
I'll get you most anywhere you need to go. I spend a lot of my time
teaching English
at Andrews University.
Mostly I
teach writing courses, the kind that many freshmen hate; but now and then,
when I'm lucky, I get to teach an Arthurian literature
course which allows me to show off my sword and helmet and my
chain mail shirt, one of several I've made for friends. I am also
director
of the university's Writing Center,
a place where Andrews students bring their writing when they want a
second opinion. Piano is my main musical instrument, though I'm learning
to play a banjo. My older
son does pretty well on the guitar,
and my younger son is itching to play a bass. Who knows? One day we
may start a blue grass band. Until then, I also enjoy playing a bass
recorder in Andrews University's Early Music
Ensemble. I'm interested in costumes and helped design many of the
costumes the group wears. I love to travel when I have the money and the
time. Plop me down somewhere in Ireland and I
can be happy for
weeks. Wyoming is nice too!
Mostly I read student
essays, but when I have time, I enjoy a good medieval murder mystery. Ellis Peters is one of
the best.
