GROUP MOTIVATION PROJECT
Each group will develop a comprehensive, theoretically
sound and financially feasible plan to motivate workers to perform at sustainable
high levels. The group will prepare a single, written report and orally
present the highlights of their work to the class at the end of the term.
After selection of the target workers, the group will
need to:
1) search the literature for clues as to what motivational plans and schemes seem to best apply
2) conduct interviews or surveys of these workers and
their supervisors
Your report should include the following:
1. An introduction to the personal characteristics and
dispositions of the typical worker in this area (age, education, abilities,
personality characteristics, etc).
2. A report of what this type of worker likes and dislikes
about his/her job.
3. The kinds of rewards that these workers really seek
and value.
4. The performance standards and evaluation processes
typically used in the field.
5. The organizational settings or conditions which seem
to maximize productivity and worker satisfaction.
6. A clear and complete motivational plan. Tell us how
this type of worker can be motivated to perform at an exceptional level.
The plan should include:
A. A philosophical statement of what you are trying to accomplish.
B. A theoretical explanation and justification for your approach.
C. Clearly explain the details--exactly how will your plan work?
D. What will your plan cost in both human and financial terms?
E. What problems do you anticipate in implementing this plan?
7. A bibliography of works consulted and a record of the
people surveyed.
8. Appendices which display the questionnaires used and summaries of data and results.
