Contributing Records

By "contributing" records we mean that we send a bib record to the MelCat server. It does not mean that we will loan it out but it does mean that we allow MelCat users to see that we have the title at this site.

MelCat does not load order records.

Status Codes

Several status codes have been added to the status code table.

Code "9" mean "Local Circ Only" and is available for our use.

Some other status codes have been added for MEL that are not available for our use. All of these codes begin with "MEL". These are codes that the MelCat system will use to keep track of things. Think of it as MelCat's scratch pad paperwork. The "MEL" codes are NOT FOR OUR USE.

Patron Codes

Some patron codes have been added for our anticipated use in the (near?) future. However the codes that have been added in the 200-240 range are for MelCat's use only.

Changes/additions to any Patron Codes MUST be coordinated though the System Librarian.

Item Types

Some item type (ITYPE) have been added to the system. Several are for our use as a result of moving to an ITYPE controlled loan rule decision. Additonal ITYPES have been added in the 200-240 range for the use of MelCat only.

Changes/additions to ITYPE codes MUST be coordinated though the System Librarian.
