Andrews University Archives and Records Managements Policy
1.19 The Andrews University
Archives and Records Center (AUARC), located at the Adventist Heritage
Center, James White Library, exists for the purpose of managing all
university records.
1.20 University records are defined as all records, regardless
of their form or format, whether published or unpublished, paper,
audio visual, or electronic, which are created, owned, used, in the
possession of, or retained by the executive officers and staff of
central administrative offices, deans and staff of the respective
colleges, schools, departments, administrative offices, centers, institutes,
museums, and the library in the performance of their official duties.
1.21 All university records belong to Andrews University and
are managed according to established Andrews University policies.
The retention and disposition of records generated by all university
units shall be in harmony with the procedures outlined in the Andrews
University Archives and Records Center Policy and Management Manual.
1.4 It is the responsibility of the above mentioned university
administrators, faculty, and staff to ensure that these records, in
cooperation with the Andrews University Archives and Records Center,
are properly managed and transferred to the AUARC for retention according
to the established records retention schedules.
1.5 All university records are considered closed to users
outside the office of origin unless specifically opened by the originating
office. Closure decision and periods of time are subject to compliance
with university policy and applicable laws.
1.6 The University Archives Committee establishes policies
and assists the Andrews University Archives and Records Center.
