Emanuel Leutze painted this picture in 1855. Showing is a picture of Christopher Columbus on the deck of the Santa Maria on August 3, 1492. Some consider this the greatest picture ever painted of Christopher. Many call it the "portrait of courage" because it shows Columbus just prior to his biggest moment of bravery and courage as he prepares to set sail for the Americas.
