For a few days this fall, Andrews University will open its campus especially for its alumni. This year’s Homecoming celebration takes place September 27-30 and, as usual, a full weekend of entertainment, activities, and reunions is planned.

On Thursday, Sept. 27, plan to attend the People’s Choice Concert at 8:00 pm in the Howard Performing Arts Center. This free concert explores the music of each decade from Andrews University’s start as Emmanuel Missionary College until now.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Annual Homecoming Parade. Come out Sept. 28 at 6:15 pm to enjoy colorful floats, beautiful banners and a marching band. The parade will begin in the PMC parking lot and follow the road past the alumni house and into the administration building parking lot.

Also on this year’s agenda is the Harvest Picnic, taking place Saturday, Sept. 29, at 6:00 pm in the Alumni House backyard. Sit under a tent or around a campfire and eat your fill of salads, fruit, donuts and s’mores, free of charge!

For the athletically inclined, choose to participate in several events. The Wes Christiansen Memorial Golf Outing will take place at Blackthorn Golf Club in South Bend, Ind. Seventy-five dollars covers Green Fees and lunch—pre-registration is required.

The Andrews Cardinals basketball teams will take on the alumni, Saturday, Sept. 29, at 8:30 pm in the Johnson Gymnasium. Come cheer for your teams!

A 5K Run/Walk and a 10K Run will be held at 9:00 am on Sept. 30. Registration fees are $15 for adults and $5 for students. Afterwards, enjoy refreshments on the Alumni House deck.

Throughout the weekend, individual groups will be gathering for reunions. New this year is the Black Student Christian Forum Reunion. Also, several programs across the Andrews campus are celebrating major anniversaries:
     Andrews Dairy: 100 years
     Computing: 40 years
J.N. Andrews Honors Program: 40 years

This year's honored alumni are David (MA ’57, EdD ’82) and Marilyn (MAT ’75) Bauer, David Knight (BS ’81, MA ’87), David J. Moll (BS ’77), Merlene Ogden (former faculty/staff), Peter Jon Shuler (BS ’82), and Paul (PhD ’87) and Mei-Mei (PhD ’87) Cho. Honored classes are 1937, 1947, 1957, 1967, 1977, 1982, 1987 and 1997.
