ZZZ - LearningHub Upgrade 3.9 Plugins Removed
Last Updated 2 years ago

As part of the LearningHub upgrade to Moodle 4.0, and the overall efforts to improve the performance of LearningHub, some activities (plugins) were removed. Some were removed because they were no longer supported in Moodle 4.0; others due to low usage and/or Moodle support.

This page provides a list and the recommended actions.

Activities

Active Quiz. This quiz tool was created so that a teacher could add questions to a quiz while students were taking it. However, it doesn't include all the features of the regular quiz tool and was causing confusion.
Instead: Please use the Quiz activity instead.

Certificate. This tool for creating a certificate upon completion of the course is no longer supported.
Instead: Please use the Simple Certificate activity instead.

Game. This tool makes fun games for practicing knowledge. It has had low usage.
Instead: Use tools such as Kahoot, Polleverywhere, and Quizlet instead; or create a LearningHub quiz with randomized questions that students can take unlimited times to practice the knowledge.

Group Self-Selection. This is a tool for allowing students to choose their own group. It has had low usage and isn't updated for Moodle 3.9.
Instead: Contact dlit@andrews.edu to discuss your instructional needs.

Zoom Meeting. This activity was not created by Zoom and isn't supported by Zoom. It also has some odd functionality issues.
Instead: Copy the URL of your Zoom meeting and choose, Add an Activity or Resource, URL, and paste the address there.

Blocks
Progress Bar. This has been phased out and is no longer supported.
Instead. Please use the Completion Progress block instead.

Question Types
Wiris Quizzes. These are specialized math and science questions; there is a limit on the free usage. Since we don't have the funds to continue support; and usage is low; we are removing this.
Instead. Use the existing quiz question types.

Features
The Augmented Teacher. This plugin is no longer supported and had low usage.
Instead. You have several options:
1. In your course, go to the Gear, Reminders. You can also set specific Reminders on the activities.
2. Use the Delay Delivery under Options in Outlook to program email reminders to students ahead of time.
3. Or use a tool like Remind.com which also allows you to text students reminders that don't come from your own cell phone number.
