How is communication done in CHEM131/CHEM132?

·       Ok.  I’m old fashion. I like to use email:  hayesr (at) andrews.edu.  That is the best way to contact me outside of class time.  My office phone is probably the second best way to contact me.

How will information be communicated outside of class time?

·       The instructor will email you or post in Moodle.

Can the instructor use my Gmail, Hotmail, or yahoo account?

·       No.

·       You are an Andrews University student and this is your primary job function.  You are given an AU email ID so the university can effectively communicate with you.  Thus, I prefer to just keep track of just your AU email address.  There are too many students to keep track of exceptions.

·       However, you can have all of your Andrews.edu email forwarded to your favorite account.  Follow this link to the Computer User Services and click on “mail forwarding management”.  You will need your AU ID and Password to do this.

·       This is very nice of AU to offer this option, but you need to periodically make sure the link doesn’t break (sometimes does…).

·       Gmail/Yahoo Accounts:  add hayesr@andrews.edu to your contact list or address list. You should do this for all your instructors.

How do I check do see if emails are getting caught in the AU spam filter?

·       Kudos to AU for allowing us to make changes to our spam filter settings and take a glimpse at emails that are quarantined by this system.

·       Go to the AU Spam Filter webpage and log in with your AU ID and Password.  There is a good chance a missing email might be found there!

·       You can even set up an RSS feed to notify you every time an email is caught by the spam filter.  Look under the “Preferences” menu item and select RSS feed on the left column menu.  It will give you an alert email every time something is caught.  I use this so I will not miss any emails from my students!
