Dr. Alonso's Research

Dr. Alonso is currently working with students on the development of green experiments for organic chemistry laboratory.  Experiments such as the isomerization of menthone and the bromination of trans-cinnamic acid are carried out using more environmentally friendly techniques (synthesis, and analysis).

Students also participate in the synthesis, purfication and characterization of novel porphyrins and phthalocyanines.
