Elmer Ccopa Rivera joined the Department of Engineering & Computer Science at the Andrews University on May 2018. Prior to joining the department, he worked as a researcher for the Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center at the Ohio State University. He was also a researcher of the Brazilian Bioethanol Science and Technology Laboratory at the National Center for Research in Energy and Materials, and of the Research Unit for the Modeling Agricultural and Hydrological Systems in the Mediterranean Environment at the French Institute of Agronomic Research. His research interest is the bioenergy systems modeling and the analysis and design of sustainable biorefineries. In addition, he continually collaborates with other engineers and science professionals to create innovative modeling and experimental procedures in various areas that include chemical, biological and biomedical engineering. Dr. Rivera has published 26 research articles in peer-reviewed journals and 11 chapters in books. He hold a PhD in Chemical Engineering and a MSc in Food Engineering from the University of Campinas, Brazil, and a Bachelor degree in Food Engineering from the Peruvian Union University.
Elmer Rivera is currently assisting Dr. Kwon (Phd, Chair of Engineering) in the ECL Sensor Project which is funded by the National Science Foundation.
